Brittany is the daughter of Anthony and Linda Gallo. Linda, the antagonist in my first book, Torn Robes: Choices, was introduced in my sixth post. She is also the twin sister of Joshua Gallo. You know the old saying, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," and in Brittany's case, that saying holds true. However, it is not her mother, Linda Gallo, that Brittany resembles most; rather, she is most like her father, Anthony Gallo.
Brittany is a complex character inspired by traits I’ve observed in past acquaintances and reflections of my own teenage experiences. She can be self-centered, superficial, and prideful. As the captain of the football cheerleading squad, Brittany is aware of her beauty and enjoys the admiration of her classmates. She has a sharp tongue and often taunts her peers, giving herself a false sense of power. This behavior ultimately leads to her personal revelations in the first book, "Torn Robes: Choices." Let’s take a look at how we first meet Brittany.
“Perfect,” Brittany Gallo announced. Her pleased reflection stared back at her from the long mirror mounted on the bedroom wall. As captain of the football cheerleading squad, she had a certain status and responsibility. “After all,” she reminded herself, “Daddy always says.” Brittany deepened her tone and pointed her right index finger at her reflection.
“’People look up to leaders, Brittany. You have an obligation to the less fortunate people of the world.’ Ah, so much responsibility.” With one last look in the mirror, Brittany sashayed out of her bedroom.
Her character experiences significant changes and growth throughout the Torn Robes series. Her first real challenge occurs during her initial class with Pastor John, who refuses to be intimidated by her bold intolerance. In Brittany's mind, he delivers the ultimate insult by calling her out in front of her classmates.
Brittany Gallo is a fascinating character whose complexities are revealed throughout the first two books in the Torn Robes series. In the third book, Torn Robes: The King's Highway, she plays a significant role. The earlier books, Torn Robes: Choices and Torn Robes: Reckoning, add depth to her character, making her journey a powerful force to be reckoned with.
I encourage you to take the opportunity to get to know Brittany Gallo; you won't be disappointed!
